Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt
Laser hair removal has gained in popularity over the years. Many people see this as a permanent solution to their hairy armpits or hairy legs. They are right that it is a permanent solution, but does laser hair removal hurt? It can be a little painful for some. Ideally, this procedure works best with those with fair skin and dark hair. This is also a combination that can cause many people to have sensitive skin. A contributing factor to why laser hair removal can be painful is because of the light skin that seems to show dark hair so predominantly.
However, when you really consider it over the course of time laser hair removal is not as painful as the other ways to remove hair. Consider waxing for instance. This can be quite painful and while it does last a longer time then shaving it is not at all pain free or permanent. Then we have the option to shave our hair off. By far one of the least painful ways to remove unwanted hair but then there is still the risk of cuts that can bleed and be very painful and shaving has to be done a a very regular basis. Keeping that in mind does laser hair removal hurt in comparison, that’s a matter of opinion but the pain is very temporary.
Since most people will only need a maximum amount of 8 laser hair removal sessions in order to really be hair free this is by far one of the least painful options available. Each time you perform this procedure on your skin it becomes just a bit tougher and more tolerant to this. As well you can easily apply some aloe vera on your skin in order to prevent any rashes or skin irritants. If you are experiencing severe pain then I would recommend you stop these procedures immediately and seek proper medical help.
The reason for the pain is actually quite simple really. Each hair follicle is located near a nerve ending. As the laser starts to get close to the root of the hair the heat of the laser will stimulate the nerve ending and perhaps cause a sensation of pain. It is very rare that this pain should be too extreme. If you experience too much pain during laser hair removal, then stop the procedure immediately. Each laser device can be calibrated to each person and perhaps the technician who is using it on you does not know the proper settings. It is far better to have a lower setting and perform more procedures then to scar and damage the skin.
Many laser hair removal places will ask you if you wish to have a skin numbing cream placed on your skin before they proceed. I would highly recommend this if you know already you have sensitive skin. If you are prone to burn in the sun then you have a high chance that this can cause you pain. Just be careful and know yourself, just try and do not do too much at once.
The overall pain involved in this laser hair removal should not be too much that anyone can tolerate. Rather, if you are experiencing any type of burning on your flesh as this is going on then stop the procedure immediately. There should not be any smells of burning what so ever. This is the mark of someone who does not know their job.
You are in control before, during and after this procedure is performed. Please remember this as some people will try and convince you that they are doing their job the right way. Unfortunately, there are some who put up with poorly trained people in their staff and do not understand the benefits of having someone who knows what they are doing.
When you consider the pros and cons of all of the methods involved it seems as though laser hair removal is not as painful overall. Since you will probably not have to repeat this procedure ever or at least very few times in your life this can actually save you from a lot of pain.
